As you progress in your expeditions, you get more and more ingredients for cooking. The more ingredients you have, the more favorite Pokemon dishes you can prepare. The Pokemon are lured by your tasty courses and thus come and stay at your Base Camp.
Tip 1 from Pokemon Quest walkthrough guide: Rare Pokemon seem to prefer dishes which you cook with precious ingredients.
Except for attracting new Pokemon proceed to fight wild Pokemon you meet on your expeditions. At the stage 7-4, there are all-in-all three waves of Pokemon foes. The last one considers the encounter with Muk.
Muk is amorphous and sticky Poison-type Pokemon. It consists of purple sludge. Muk spreads fluid toxins which kill all the plants, so it is considered as a biohazard. To defeat it, use Ground and Psychic types of moves. Muk is the most vulnerable against them.
Tip 2 from Pokemon Quest walkthrough guide: Even if your Pokemon get all tired out on an expedition, your dishes seem to keep on cooking.
